Pfister developed this circuit card as part of the overall development for a
dialysis machine. The board is a general purpose PC computer with interface
circuits on board. The board is approximately 25% analog circuitry and 75%
complex digital circuitry. A major design challenge was to interface the
complex timing requirements of the 386 microprocessor with the rest of the
circuitry.
The board is an example of the types of complex analog and Digital designs that UniDes, Inc can do. The design challenges involved proper ground plane design, separation of analog and digital circuits, and design for EMI/EMC.
The design was typical of Dan's designs in that it performed correctly when the first prototype was turned on.
