Daniel F. Pfister

Dan joined Cobe Laboratories immediately after graduating from college and spent most of his career with Cobe. He initially produced designs that solved a number of manufacturing problems particularly in the area of product test and obsolete components. Later he worked on design enhancements as well as the development of new kidney dialysis machines.

Dan obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from the University of Colorado in 1987. He is an alumni member of the Eta Kappa Nu Electrical Engineering and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Societies. He was also on the Dean’s list for a number of years.

As part of his design efforts, he developed special purpose embedded PC and peripheral circuit cards used to control much of a new machine. He developed skills in such diverse areas as programmable logic, Motorola and Intel microprocessor-based architectures, CRT video display and touchscreen controller circuitry, various types of memory designs, RS485 and RS232 serial communication interfaces, PCMCIA and external peripheral interfaces, along with ISA and PC/104 bus architectures.

In addition, Dan is also experienced in such areas as worst case tolerance and thermal stress analyses, failure modes and effects analyses, high-speed logic design considerations, EMI/EMC compliance design, validation strategies, HALT/HASS testing, cable design, test procedure and equipment design.
